HPMC swollen in cold water into a clear or slightly cloudy colloidal solution, almost insoluble in absolute ethanol, ethyl ether, acetone. Hypromellose gelation temperature has a great influence on the formulation of hypromellose. When the hypromellose aqueous solution is heated, phase separation occurs at a specific temperature, and a gel forming a three-dimensional network structure is precipitated.
